10,000+ Cancer Cases Expected in Japan

10,000+ Excess Cancer Cases Post-Fukushima: PSR/IPPNW Report – Thomasson, Rosen, Mousseau, Alvarez in Nuclear Hotseat #247 http://tinyurl.com/gqz5lup

The PSR/IPPNW report released last week projecting at least 10,000 excess cancer cases in Japan because of the radioactivity releases from the ongoing Fukushima nuclear disaster. We’ll hear from:
Dr. Catherine Thomasson, Executive Director of Physicians for Social Responsibility; http://www.psr.org/
Dr. Alex Rosen of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War; http://ippnw.org/
Tim Mousseau, PhD, a Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina and on-the-ground researcher into insect and animal mutations at Chernobyl and Fukushima http://tinyurl.com/gsyfbfn . Radioactive Rain 1350 CPM Inspector Redmond, Washington State Radiation on Cars 2016

Published on Feb 9, 2016

by Strontium Milks

Concerned citizen picking up vary high radiation readings on his car using a inspector radiation detector. He collected samples during a heavy downpour of rain. The radioactive rain sample appears to have took place around the beginning of February of 2016 in the city of Redmond Washington state. It appears some dirt from the vehicle may have also caused a higher reading. Redmond is not too far from the ocean and around 200 miles from Hanford. Some people may say it was the Radon that was causing the huge spikes. Though if that were true how come the clicks did not go down when he put paper towel between inspector and alpha emitting radon?

Cs-137 γ-spectrum. Caesium-137 has a half-life of about 30.17 years. About 95 percent decays by beta emission to a meta stable nuclear isomer of barium: barium-137m (137mBa, Ba-137m). The remainder directly populates the ground state of barium-137, The longest-lived radioisotopes are 205Pb with a half-life of ~15.3 million ... G. It is the decay product of bothPo (historically called radium F) by alpha decay.

Half Life Calculator
The following tools can generate any one of the values from the other three in the half-life formula for a substance undergoing decay to decrease by half.

Half Life Calculator
Please provide any three of the following to calculate the fourth value.

quantity remains
Nt initial quantity
N0 time
t half-life

Half Life, Mean Lifetime, and Decay Constant Conversion
Please provide anyone of the following to get the other two.

t1/2 mean lifetime
τ decay constant

Definition and Formula
By definition, half-life is the period of time it takes for a substance undergoing decay to decrease by half. An exponential decay process can be described by any of the following three equivalent formulas:

Nt = N0(1/2)t/t1/2
Nt = N0e-t/τ
Nt = N0e-λt

where N0 is the initial quantity Nt is the quantity that still remains after a time t, t1/2 is the half-life τ is the mean lifetime λ is the decay constant
t1/2 = ln(2)τ = ln(2)/λ
